About Virginia Wesleyan College

Virginia Wesleyan College or VWC, is a small Methodist liberal arts college situated on the border of Virginia Beach and Norfolk, which is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, with a population that exceeds 237 700 inhabitants, as estimated during the 2000 census, making it the state's 2nd largest city, behind neighboring Virginia Beach.

The college was established in 1961 with support from the United Methodist Church. It presently offers its students `38 majors spread throughout the Humanities, Natural Science and Mathematics and Social Science divisions`, being `accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the degrees of bachelor of arts and of bachelor of science.`

Athletics

VWC's athletic teams are called the Marlins and they compete in NCAA Division III, ODAC. Their distinctive colors are blue and silver, and their mascot is Bob Marlin.
